Give Local York is an online one day giving extravaganza aimed at helping local non-profit organizations secure the much need funding they need to continue their missions within our communities.

That means if you donate $20, your matched donation to the HSO is $40! Founded in 1995, The Hanover Symphony Orchestra believes in the power of the performing arts to connect communities through music. The Hanover Symphony Orchestra presents dynamic programming that includes classical and popular styles of music, enriching educational experiences for students and innovative events that bring the community together in support of music education and the performing arts. We just happen to make great music. Dynamic Programming: As an all-volunteer orchestra, the HSO is known for playing a broad range of styles that seeks to make great music popular and popular music great. From Trans-Siberian Orchestra Founder, Mark Wood, to an Evening of Rodgers and Hammerstein, there is something for everyone! Our 2019-2020 season, our 24th, brings together three wide-reaching performances that features something for everyone! Our fall performance, Dancing to the Movies, features live ballroom dancing set to great movie music. Our annual Christmas Concert is sure to become a holiday tradition for your family. The season closes with a trip to the Wild West featuring artwork from local and artist set to music and the return of our popular HSO KIDS! Program. Enriching Educational Experiences: The Hanover Symphony Orchestra reaches band and orchestra students through two major educational initiatives. HSO KIDS! The mission of HSO KIDS! is to ignite the passion of band and orchestra students while equipping them with 21st-century skills that foster creativity through positive music making and sharing. HSO KIDS is open to ALL students with at least one year of instrumental music instruction. Students learn music appropriate for their grade level with their school and/or private lesson music teacher. HSO KIDS! then attend a special rehearsal clinic with master teachers before working alongside the HSO to put the final additions on their music. Later in the evening, the HSO KIDS! perform with the HSO during their spring concert performance! Fellowship Program: The Walter (Walt) F. Janusz Fellowship is an opportunity for highly talented high school age (incoming 9th-12th grade) musicians looking to pursue a career in music and/or develop their musical skills. The fellowship is a seven-month (September – March) experience that includes a stipend ($750) to pay for private lesson instruction. In addition to the private lesson component. HSO Fellows will also gain valuable experience through performing with the HSO as they aim to present concerts of the highest artistry.
