Music Director

Larry KuntzMaestro Larry Kuntz Jr. has been the Music Director of the Hanover Symphony Orchestra since its inception in 1995. He holds degrees in Music Education from Mansfield University in Mansfield, Pennsylvania and VanderCook College of Music in Chicago, Illinois. While at Mansfield, Larry Kuntz was a Presser Foundation Scholar, and his performance of the Arutunian Trumpet Concerto won first prize in the Kreuscher Performance Scholarship Contest. He also holds a degree in education administration from Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He has completed post-graduate work in conducting at VanderCook and at the University of South Carolina, where he participated in the prestigious Conductors’ Institute of South Carolina. An avid trumpeter, Larry Kuntz is a former member of the Hershey Symphony Orchestra in Hershey, Pennsylvania and Corning Philharmonic Orchestra in Corning, New York.

Maestro Kuntz is also Music Director at Grace United Methodist Church in Hanover, Pennsylvania where he directs the Chancel Choir and supervises all other musical activities; and he teaches instrumental music in the South Western School District, where he is responsible for the musical development of over 150 string students in grades six through twelve, Before moving to South Western in 2002, he spent 10 years as Director of Orchestras, in the Hanover Public School District. Maestro Kuntz resides in Hanover with his wife Debbie and their three children, in Hanover, Pennsylvania
